Led 1/2 Primary Ashtanga

What is Ashtanga Yoga? Ashtanga Yoga is a system of yoga that involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures that vary in difficulty and benefit. For each movement, there is one breath. The combination of the asanas (postures) with movement and breath produces an internal heat that detoxifies the internal organs and helps to remove impurities, while bringing strength and flexibility to the body and helping to calm the mind. The Ashtanga system is comprised of three series beginning with Primary Series known as Yoga Chikitsa, or yoga therapy, the Intermediate Series, known as Nadi Shodhana, or nerve cleansing and Advanced Series A, B, C & D, known collectively as Sthira Bhaga or steady strength.

The class will cover the first 1/2 of the primary series up to Navasana (or boat pose) and is for those students who have practiced Ashtanga Yoga either through a beginners block or by taking regular ashtanga classes. Please bring a mat, water and towel. All levels welcome.

Warm YINYasa

Warm Yinyasa is a fusion of Vinyasa flow (a rhythmic flow of postures) with Yin yoga (long held poses). We will move for approximately 30 minutes through flowing movements to build strength and balance. For about 30 minutes we find calm stillness to release tension from the body and mind.
A balanced practice leading to a balanced you.No experience necessary.

YIN

From the Taoist tradition of yoga, Yin Yoga accesses connective tissue and joints in a soft yet sometimes challenging way. This is done in an unheated room so that the fascia can be felt and accessed before the muscle warms up. Essential for joint and connective tissue health. All levels. Please note: Yin Yoga is not restorative yoga. Like all yoga practices, if the tissues you are targeting for exercise are damaged in some way, please give yourself a chance to heal before resuming your regular practice. Yoga Mat and Water are recommended.
